Banana and dates super smoothie


Sooo indulgent, sooo rejuvenating, sooo energizing!!! Wow, could this be real? Yes, big time! Trust me, this is not just any smoothie – this is a true keeper, a must do on your weekly menu list.

Besides β€œOMG, life is so freaking good factor”, each ingredient brings a bunch of amazing benefits to the overall wellbeing. Don’t even know where to start πŸ™‚

Banana* – high in fibres (good digestion), rich in potassium (keeps healthy heart and lowers blood pressure), vitamin B6 (brain development, helps body in production of feel good serotonin hormone), vitamin C (anti-oxidant), magnesium (healthy heart), manganese (maintains brain & nervous system, bone health, blood sugar regulation, helps reduce PMS symptoms), copper (formation of red blood cells, maintains nervous system, helps body form collagen and absorb iron), source of good carbs

Plant based milk – benefits vary depending on the type. My favourite is a good quality organic soya milk enriched with calcium. Besides calcium, which is essential for healthy and strong bones, soya milk is an excellent source of plant based protein.

Ginger* – powerful anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties, prevents nausea, reduces exercise-induced muscle soreness, effective against menstrual cramps

Dates – natural source of sugar, high in fibres (great digestion and gut health)

Raw cocoa powder* – lowers blood pressure and cholesterol, healthy heart and skin (improves blood

Ceylon cinnamon* – high in anti-oxidants, anti-inflammatory effect, regulates blood pressure and cholesterol levels, antifungal & antibacterial properties (fights tooth decay and bad breath)

Sooo indulgent, sooo rejuvenating, sooo energizing!!! Each ingredient in this amazing banana and dates smoothie brings a bunch of extraordinary benefits to the overall wellbeing. This will definitely turn into a keeper on your weekly menu list.

Servings: 2 people
  • 1 medium to large banana (at least half ripe)
  • 250 ml plant based milk (soya, oat, coconut or almond)
  • 3 large pitted dates
  • 1/2 tbsp raw cocoa powder
  • 1 small piece fresh ginger (0,5 cm thick)
  • 1 tsp ceylon cinnamon
  1. Soak dates overnight, or 15 minutes before preparation in a warm water.

  2. Place all ingredients in a smoothie maker or a high speed blender; chopped banana, plant based milk, soaked and halved dates, cocoa powder, roughly chopped fresh ginger and cinnamon.

  3. Blend for 15 seconds.

  4. Pour smoothie into 2 serving glasses and start indulging immediately πŸ™‚

Recipe Notes
  • Feel free to add 50 – 100 ml extra plant based milk for a bit more liquidish consistency
  • Ripeness of banana greatly affects overall sweetness and fullness – the riper the better
  • This is ideal pre or post exercise smoothie considering its’ high energy boost and muscle tension relief properties.
